Why Experience on the Defense Side Matters

Many firms tout "former prosecutor" credentials. But defending a DUI case requires a different lens. It takes the ability to find the tiny cracks in the state’s evidence that a prosecutor is trained to overlook.
I don’t build cases for the district attorney’s office; I’ve spent my career learning how to deconstruct them. This "defense-first" mindset means I look at your case through the lens of constitutional protections, not state checklists.
Prosecutors are good at knowing courtroom routines. They typically have little experience on cross-examination. They have little experience guiding real people through a daunting gauntlet of accusations and circumstantial evidence. Once prosecutors plateau or wash out of the district attorney’s office, they follow the only subject matter they learned. That is not what you want. You want someone who learned from having clients that need real world, personalized counseling and advocacy where the stakes are high. You need someone who will take a case to trial, but can advise when it does not in your interests to do so.
Perhaps, most importantly, you want someone who can speak directly with you in Spanish. While the attorney is not natively fluent in Spanish, he’ll be able to discuss facts, explain the law, and not get core parts of your situation lost in translation. Get direct access today.
